WEEK 4.5- Bricks & Bits

Well, it's said that hapiness is only real when shared and what can be more true or happy than to share smiles and laughs with a kid that you barely know?

We arrived at Durazno feeling sleepy and tired but nevertheless ready to work. We were very well recieved at UTEC, and since we arrived a little bit of schedule we immediatly started to work. "What were we doing there?" you might be asking, well, officially we were redesigning toys, but actually we were producing smiles.

Faustino arrived in a football shirt, shorts and wearing a pair of crocks with some pins on them, with a toy iron man in one hand and a Cristiano Ronaldo jersey in the other. He sat down and was a little bit shy in the beginning, but, after a few seconds of chatting, he started to talk to us like we were friends for a long time. He then started talking about how he would like if his Ronaldo jersey was full of lights and how he would love if his iron men was a remotedly controlled football player. We listened very carefully to his requests and it was time to make them come true.UTEC really helped us by giving usa budget to buy materials and providing 3D printers for our personal use.

We proceeded to think of how we were going to do fulfill Faustino requests, but, due to the Iron Man construction and the lack of time we had to redesign it, the remote controll was out of question, so, instead, we built a skateboard that would move around with iron man on top when turned on. The engineering was done. Now, how were we going to make Iron Man a football player and how can we add lights to Ronaldo shirt? Both of the answers to these questions came from Ana. The answers, by order, were the following: "I'll sew some football clothes for Iron Man" and " Using lillypads of course!", and so Ana sewed her heart of.

The revelation day came, and finally Faustino would see what we had done. Well we were all kind of nervous to see his reaction, but we were confident, and proud of our work. Faustino arrived and, well, since this post is becoming really big we're just going to said it was a success, and he smiled and laughed a lot.

So did we.
